Jose L. Piedra is a Habano notable for two reasons: firstly, the cigars are made from leaf grown exclusively in the Vuelta Arriba tobacco region and secondly, though 'totalamente a mano' (totally handmade), they contain short filler, in contrast to the long filler used in most Habanos. The Piedra family came to Cuba from Spain in the 1880s, settling near Santa Clara in the Vuelta Arriba. The second generation of the family, led by Jose Lamadrid Piedra, founded and developed the brand as we know it today. |
